The knowledge of an assessment system is an important knowledge base of early childhood/special education educators. Partnerships, cultural diversity, appropriate early intervention assessment, and linking curriculum to assessment practices are a few of the important aspects of assessment. Thorough knowledge of child development, knowledge of formal and informal assessment variables, consultations with parents, as well as portfolio and authentic assessment are required competencies for the professional early childhood/ special education educator.
