ACCT 3233 TAX IN ACTION THROUGH VITA

Tax in Action Through VITA combines tax literacy, professional skill development, and community impact through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Students use Internal Revenue Service (IRS) training resources to learn current individual income tax law and assist eligible low- to moderate-income taxpayers with free tax return preparation. Through guided practice and supervised community service, students develop skills in tax research, technology, ethical judgment, and client communication. Students must pass the applicable IRS VITA certification examinations before preparing client returns and complete the service hours established in the approved course syllabus.
