RDG 3400 FOUNDATIONS OF EARLY LITERACY DEVELOPMENT AND INSTRUCTION
This course explores current models and theories of foundational literacy acquisition to enhance students' reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills, aligned with NJSLS ELA standards. Topics include neural, cognitive, linguistic, and socio-cultural processes, with a focus on early reading development. Course content include print concepts, phonemic and phonological awareness, alphabetic principle, and word recognition skills, such as decoding and encoding. The course also emphasizes explicit instruction, assessment, and differentiation techniques for diverse learners.
