PS 3210 EARLY MODERN POLITICAL THEORY
Introduces students to modern political ideas that form the basis of contemporary democracy. Through a study of original texts, we will examine modern political concepts, including human nature, rights, liberty, equality, the social contract, freedom, the state, society, community, and class. By placing political thinkers into conversation with one another, we will use political theory to shed new light on the dilemmas of modern democracy.
