MUS 3342 POPULAR MUSIC AND ALTERNATE ENSEMBLES IN DIVERSE K-12 SETTINGS

This course explores the integration of popular music, rock bands, and alternate ensembles in K–12 music education, with attention to diverse contexts such as urban and rural schools. Students examine culturally responsive pedagogy, develop inclusive lesson plans, and explore assessment strategies and music technology. Emphasis is placed on student-centered learning and adapting curricula to reflect varied musical interests. Skills are applied through a service-learning project.
