FA 6030J Master Critique III
This is an applied theory. It utilizes historical and theoretical concepts. Students’ artwork is discussed weekly in group or individual sessions. Emphasizing conceptual understanding and its application to art making, these discussions give students experience in participating in art discourse and promote in them an attitude of investigation and inquiry. Interacting in group critiques encourages students to develop their capacity for integration of personal responses, arthistorical information, and art critical concepts into verbal commentary about their studio work. Students are encouraged to place their work in a cultural and historical context and to relate their work to the art of student peers, as well as current art world trends and movements.
