EDUC 4100 SEMINAR IN URBAN EDUCATION
This course generates deep reflective study about issues in urban education, including but not limited to the achievement gap, the school-to-prison pipeline, education policy and reform, racial disproportionality in special education, and culturally responsive teaching and leadership. Course activities and conversations are intentionally guided by critical theories, with an eye toward dismantling inequities experienced by historically marginalized youth in urban schools. Students will complete a capstone research project focused on an urban education issue/topic of their choice, grounded in the course content. This course is required for the Urban Education minor.
