IST 5130 INTRODUCTION TO MODELING AND SIMULATION
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental techniques of modeling and simulation in computational science. Topics include Monte Carlo methods for probabilistic modeling, dynamical systems modeling using ordinary differential equations (ODEs), and rule-based modeling approaches such as cellular automata. Students will also explore the integration of these techniques into complex, multi-faceted simulation codes. Emphasis is placed on developing practical skills in implementing and analyzing models to solve real-world scientific and engineering problems.
