ENG 4122 WORLD ENGLISHES

Introduces historical, social, economic, and political factors underlying the globalization of English and the rise of new "World Englishes." Examines structural and sociolinguistic differences among World Englishes, as well as explores debates on issues such as language dominance, standardization, identity, and ownership. Cannot receive credit for both ENG 4122 and ENG 5122.
