PSYD 6101 PROFESSIONAL SEMINAR IN SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGY IIIB: PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGY

This second course of a two course sequence focuses on research, evidence-based professional practices and the transition from externship training to professional school psychologist. Special attention will be paid to the school psychologist's role as consultant and trainer. Student/candidates will create and implement their own professional development workshop on a specialized topic for teachers and other professionals in their school setting. Students/candidates will continue to work on the use of data-based observations and measurement and the development of a positive impact project to assess the specific effects they have on students they serve in school settings. Candidates will acquire additional knowledge and skills related to the application of laws and ethics with the clients they serve in school settings (students, families, teachers, other educational professionals). In addition, candidates will acquire knowledge and skills related to the operation of school systems and special education practices in real school settings.
