Post Baccalaureate Pre-Professional Program in Recreational Therapy
Program Description:
The Pre-Professional Certificate in Recreational Therapy is housed in the Department of Health and Human Performance since Fall 2022. The purpose of the certificate program is to provide post BA/BS graduates who are pursuing certification as a recreational therapist eighteen (18) - twenty one (21) credits of recreational therapy courses as required by the National Council for Therapeutic Certification (NCTRC).
This is a non-degree program certificate that provides only the academic major requirements including fieldwork in recreational therapy for NCTRC certification. The program certificate does not meet all of the requirements for NCTRC certification; additional requirements are determined by the applicant through the NCTRC application process.

*In order to receive an official certificate, the student must complete 18-21 curriculum credits to be awarded a certificate.
**TR 4550 (Optional) Clinical Fieldwork is for students who have no previous experience in Recreational Therapy and cannot go the academic route.
